I wanted to start out by saying thank you to everyone who contributed a leaf drawing to the project. I had a total of 15 submissions, which for the first year is pretty awesome. Even if you didn't send me a picture, I hope that the idea inspired some of you to go out and make some leaf art for yourself. I know sometimes it can be intimidating to share your art publicly. It might make you feel vulnerable, and open you up to the idea that someone might judge what you've created. Believe me, I understand.
This project, was not about competition, it's about fragility and impermanence. All these leaves will dry up and eventually crack over time, making these pieces only temporary, just like autumn, and all things in life. It was awesome to see all the different styles and mediums used, from drawing with ball point pen to painting with acrylic. The artists ranged from attorneys to jewelers, and rock climbers to professional painters. No two leaves were the same. So thank you again for helping to bring the art community together and enjoy the show.
